Demo in Norway against Indian brutalities in IOK

Kashmiri Scandinavian Council (KSC) organized a demonstration outside the Norwegian Parliament in Oslo to protest against Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir and to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri people.
The demonstration was led by Lars Rise, former member of the Norwegian Parliament. Lars Rise, in close coordination with the KSC, established the first Kashmir group in the Norwegian Parliament and initiated several debates on Kashmir in the house.
The protesters carried placards reading "Stop killings in Kashmir", "Kashmir bleeds and the world looks on", "UN unfold your preventive diplomacy", "India – stop state terrorism in Kashmir", "India – stop killing of our children" and "India – implement UN resolutions in Kashmir". Pictures of children and youth victims of pellets guns were carried by children to expose the Indian brutality in occupied Kashmir. The protesters raised forceful slogans against India and in favour of Kashmiris' freedom from Indian illegal occupation.
Addressing the protesters, Kjell Ingolf Ropstad, member of the Norwegian Parliament from the Christian Democratic Party, said that the people of Indian occupied Kashmir were living in a highly militarized atmosphere as India had deployed a very huge number of troops in the territory. He further briefed about the recent killings in occupied Kashmir and the curfew which makes life of people of Kashmir very difficult. He criticized the use of pellet guns against the protesters and arrest of Hurriyet leaders and human rights defender, Khurram Parwaiz. Kjell Ingolf Ropstad emphasized the importance of highlighting the Kashmir dispute in Norway and the Norwegian Parliament. He further urged the Norwegian Foreign Minister to follow up the Kashmir conflict with active peace diplomacy.
The KSC Executive Director, Ali Shahnawaz Khan, expressed his deep appreciation to all for joining the event to show solidarity with the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir. He strongly denounced the killing of innocent protesters by Indian police and troops during the ongoing mass uprising that started after the extrajudicial murder of youth leader, Burhan Muzaffar Wani, on July 8, this year. Ali Shahnawaz Khan said that the Kashmiri people were demanding their inalienable right to self-determination promised to them by the international community through the UN resolutions.
Other speakers said that the world needed to acknowledge the seriousness of the situation in occupied Kashmir in which over 100 innocent precious lives had been lost, more than 15,000 people had been wounded and hundreds had lost their eyesight due to the firing of Indian forces on peaceful protesters. They appealed to the international community to break its silence over the brutalities of Indian police and troops in the occupied territory. The speakers also referred to the UN resolutions, which called for settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the people of the Jammu and Kashmir.
