Delhi pushing Kashmiris to violence: Rashid

(Srinagar)Reiterating his demand for holding plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir, Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) chief and MLA Langate, Abdul Rashid Sheikh (Er Rashid) Sunday said Government of India had pushed people of Kashmir towards violence by denying right of self-determination. "We held 40-minute-long meeting with the All Party Delegation and we made it clear that right to self-determination should be given to the people of Kashmir. It doesn't violate Constitution of India and nor it amounts to separatism," Rashid told reporters after meeting the visiting MPs. "The scope for peaceful resistance is shrinking with every passing day in India and lndians forget that Gandhi's non-violent movement succeeded because Britishers showed maturity and respect towards non-violent movement while Indian state has been so brutal in killing us with pellets, bullets and other lethal and non-lethal weapons that Gandhi's soul would be feeling bad about it," he said. "Not only in Kashmir, but in the entire Jammu region with the full patronage of right-wing radical forces the life of Muslims has become hell for seeking resolution of the dispute," Er Rashid said. He said people of Kashmir had seen enough of violence and killings and time has come that some practical steps are taken to resolve the longstanding political dispute. "Government of India should understand that passing the buck and avoiding the resolution is the only reason why Jammu & Kashmir is bleeding since 1947," he said.
