Firing of pellets and bullets by Indian troops on anti-India rallies and protests, more than 250 people injured

Srinagar:: In occupied Kashmir, more than 250 people including women were injured in firing of pellets and bullets by Indian troops on anti-India rallies and protests, which were attended by thousands of people across the territory, today. Violent clashes erupted between protesters and Indian forces in Srinagar, Bandipora, Baramulla, Gandarbal, Pulwama, Shopian, Islamabad, Kupwara and Kulgam districts on the 57th consecutive day of anti-India protests and rallies in the territory, today. The agitated people set a newly built deputy commissioner office on fire in Shopian and attacked the house of a member of so-called Kashmir Assembly in Tral. As per last reports, scores of people had got stuck in historical Khanqahe-e-Faiz Banah in Tral town amid intense clashes. Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed throughout the Valley against the visit of a 28-member Indian Parliamentary delegation to occupied Kashmir, today. Call for the strike was given by the joint Hurriyet leadership. Indian police arrested Hurriyet leader Masroor Abbas Ansari outside his home as he tried to march towards Srinagar airport as part of joint resistance programme. On the other hand, a 28-member Indian parliamentary delegation headed by Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Srinagar, today, amid tight security. No one except government officials and puppet ministers met the delegation. Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik in their joint statement said that the Indian war machine was on a spree to kill, maim and disfigure the entire population for demanding right to freedom. The leaders said this in reaction to the puppet Chief Minister Mehbooa Mufti's invitation for a meeting with the visiting Indian parliamentary delegation. The leaders said that the people of Kashmir knew that it was the same parliament which had given unfettered powers to their forces to use violence to hold Jammu and Kashmir forcibly with India against all norms of civilized behaviour and international laws. The Dukhtaran-e-Millat in a statement in Srinagar said that Indian forces were harassing people across the territory to dissociate them from the ongoing Kashmir Intifada. The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Azad Kashmir Chapter held a protest sit-in outside the National Press Club, Islamabad, against Indian brutalities in occupied Kashmir. An exhibition depicting the use of brute force on peaceful Kashmiri protesters was also held on the occasion. On the other hand, British Prime Minister Theresa May through a petition signed by UK-based Kashmiri representatives was urged to play her role for settlement of the Kashmir dispute. A British citizen, Rita Pal, has launched an online petition to seek referendum for the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir.
